Dwarkadhish Temple Guide: Darshan Timings, Aarti Schedule & Flag Changing

Dwarkadhish Temple (also known as Jagat Mandir) in Dwarka is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in India and a revered site of the sacred Char Dham yatra. Situated at the holy confluence of the sacred Gomti River and the Arabian Sea, this magnificent five-story shrine stands on 72 intricately carved sandstone pillars, dating back over 2,200 years. Believed to have been constructed over the original Hari Griha (the residential palace of Lord Krishna), entering Jagat Mandir offers devotees a deeply profound spiritual experience.

The temple follows an elaborate daily ritual worship cycle rooted in ancient Vaishnava traditions. Darshan begins early with the Mangla Aarti at 6:30 AM, followed by the Abhishek Snan, Shringar Darshan, and Rajbhog offering in the morning. After a brief afternoon closure, the sanctum doors reopen for the evening Sandhya Aarti, Shayan Darshan, and the concluding Shayan Aarti at 9:30 PM. Pilgrims queue along the sacred entry gates—Swarg Dwar (Gate to Heaven) overlooking the Gomti River ghats, and exit through Moksha Dwar (Gate to Liberation) into the bustling town bazaar.

One of the most famous rituals of the Dwarkadhish Temple is the Dhwajarohan—the sacred flag changing ceremony. The colossal, colorful 52-yard triangular flag (bearing the symbols of the Sun and the Moon) is hoisted atop the temple spire five times daily by the traditional priest families. Devotees sponsor this ritual months in advance, carrying the sacred silk flag around the temple complex amid joyful chants of "Jai Dwarkadhish."

Devotees visiting the temple should also take a holy dip in the Gomti River at Gomti Ghat, cross the modern Sudama Setu suspension bridge to view the scenic confluence point (Gomti Sangam), and collect traditional Dwarka Peda and dry sweet prasad from the authorized temple counters.
